One point that some members picked up from a visit to a school yesterday was that some of the young people—and in some cases their parents, too—do not know what is on offer.
The timing of this meeting is not particularly good, given that you have not yet visited the schemes in England. However, if you have observations to make after your visits, please put them in writing to us, if you have the time to do so.
That was evidenced strongly in the visits that we undertook. I certainly had discussions with young people on the streets who were, arguably, engaged in antisocial behaviour.
We have a range of methods of doing that, which are based on the belief—which Professor Schlesinger mentioned—that if people interact with the Parliament, they will understand it better and take a more positive view of it.We are improving the arrangements for people who visit the Parliament and we are planning how visits will work at Holyrood.
