Over the past 10 years, major developments have taken place in the national health service, which I had believed every party was signed up to. One such development was to transfer the care for mentally ill people out of hospitals and into the community as much as possible.
We need to make the process meaningful and we need to think about what power we can transfer to people and how easy we can make it for such a transfer of power to happen.
Section 24, as amended, agreed to. Sections 25 and 26 agreed to. Section 27—Section 26: effect of objection Amendments 57 and 58 moved—Maureen Watt—and agreed to.
When the figures are broken down, we see that five health boards are still failing to meet the old 26-week target and that only half are meeting the new treatment target of 18 weeks.
