Perhaps the clerks can clarify the brief point that I want to make about inward visits. Like other members, I sometimes hear about such visits after they have taken place.
Jack McConnell is actively involved in the strategy: he has visited China and has encouraged people from China to come to Scotland—he is active in developing the partnership.
However, it is not yet possible to assess either of those measures because neither of them is in place.Next week, I will visit the 218 hostel in Glasgow. The convener has already visited it, but I have not and I am looking forward to the visit.

In general, the Committee was positive about the Bill, with the exception of having some concerns about the provisions in Part 6 on information for audit.
The Cabinet Secretary provided examples of a number of areas where decisions on alignment have been required including issues relating to Transport Scotland, on-going issues with regard to single-use plastics and seed potatoes and issues relating to plant health, gene editing and genetically modified crops, UK statistics and district heating. With the exception of single-use plastics it is not clear from the SPICe search of published consultations how much public consultation there has been in relation to decisions to align.
