The current law does not provide a maximum age; it permits local authorities to provide assistance at any age, although there is a greater presumption in favour and requirement for those under 26. The assistance is not limited to bricks and mortar; it can be in any area at all.

I am pleased that Parliament came together last year to pass the new-build heat standard regulations, which will come into force from 1 April this year and will prevent the installation in new buildings of polluting heating systems such as gas boilers.
