Supported by: Gordon MacDonald*, Joan McAlpine*, Graeme Dey*, Stewart Stevenson*, Emma Harper*, Clare Haughey*, Bill Kidd*, Rona Mackay*, Richard Lyle*, Gordon Lindhurst*, Sandra White* Other new and altered motions and amendments *S5M-12138 Liam McArthur: Scapa Flow Museum Funding That the Parliament congratulates — Scapa Flow Museum on receiving two recent awards to help support the major redevelopment of its site; understands that Museums Galleries Scotland (MGS) is providing £15,000, with a further £10,161 awarded by the Island of Hoy Development Trust (IHDT); notes that the project will see the restoration of historic buildings, the enhancement of interpretation and displays and the creation of a new building; recognises that the MGS funding will be used to purchase specialist audio-visual equipment and commission a film that will help tell the story of Scapa Flow and Orkney’s role in the two world wars; acknowledges that the IHDT award will support the installation of touch-screen computers, which will give visitors a 360-degree virtual tour of the main museum; congratulates everyone responsible for this success; wishes the project well, and encourages all visiting Orkney to take the time to visit the new site when it opens in 2020.
