Official Report Meeting date: 24 May 2000

Plenary, 24 May 2000

Resolved, That the Parliament regrets the determination of the SNP to promote an agenda designed to wreck rather than address the issues for which the Parliament is responsible; recognises and supports the current constitutional settlement, which was endorsed by a referendum of the Scottish people and which leaves immigration policy in the hands of the Home Secretary, and accordingly notes that the Home Secretary is the proper person to take the decision on whether Mike Tyson should be allowed into this country and, whilst recognising the widespread concerns, in this Parliament and elsewhere, about the proposed visit...

When I first heard of it, I admit I was very sceptical, but I have met Borders Transport Futures, visited the route and came back thinking ‘It's not a crazy idea'."
Official Report Meeting date: 2 November 1999

Public Petitions Committee, 02 Nov 1999

When I was the roads and transportation spokesperson on Fife Council, I worked with the Wemyss ancient caves group. I visited the group and have seen the drawings in the caves.
Official Report Meeting date: 16 September 1999

Plenary, 16 Sep 1999

I want to suggest that the Crown Estate tax is put back into the industry using, for example, the highly skilled educational and research facilities at the North Atlantic Fisheries College in Scalloway, which I know the minister visited on his recent trip to Shetland.
