We also understand that they are not used much except on croft land, as Alasdair Morrison will know, and they are generally not recorded.Given that the community body will become the landlord under such a lease, it will be in a strong position to negotiate any changes to that lease with the tenant. Our conclusion is that the community would gain little from section 61 and, in most cases, would be better off taking over the ownership of the sporting rights and negotiating them with the sporting tenants.
