Supported by: James Dornan*, Fulton MacGregor*, Rona Mackay*, Ash Denham* *S5M-04432 Stuart McMillan: Ardgowan Distillery, Inverkip That the Parliament — congratulates the Ardgowan Distillery Company on the progress with its plans to build a £12 million world-class malt whisky distillery and visitor attraction in Inverkip, which it hopes to be operational by 2019; understands that it will be sited on the 600-year-old Ardgowan estate, which has a fantastic history that includes links with Pocahontas and Robert the Bruce; believes that, in addition to whisky production, the site will have a gin still, a microbrewery, café and retail facilities and will provide tours; understands that this venture will resurrect the name of the Ardgowan Distillery, which was founded in 1896 and located in Baker Street in Greenock before it was destroyed during the Blitz in 1941; believes that the new distillery will bring jobs and new economic activity, and considers that it will be beginning of a fantastic new chapter in the story of Inverclyde.
