The curriculum for excellence will positively benefit young people and their attainment in future.Of course, my colleagues Alasdair Allan and Mike Russell will be developing the benchmarking tool that will allow schools to look at comparator schools in similar areas—perhaps areas of deprivation—and see how they compare so that they can enable themselves to move forward and help their young people to attain greater levels.Those are positive, tangible areas in which we are making real progress in closing the attainment gap and that was borne out by last week’s PISA results.
