Budget Scrutiny 2025-26 - UK Autumn Budget 2024

From April 2026, inheritance tax relief for business and agricultural assets is to be capped at £1m, with a new reduced rate of 20% being charged on assets above that, Value-added Tax (VAT) will be charged on private school fees across the UK, the temporary 5p cut in fuel duty announced by the previous Government is to be extended for one year to 2025-26, and the freeze in income tax thresholds is set to end in 2028-29, at which point thresholds will increase in line with inflation (England only).
