I was pleased that, earlier this month, the First Minister announced that an additional £6 million will be allocated to children’s services planning partnerships as part of the 2025-26 budget. That increase means that the share of the whole family wellbeing funding that is provided to children’s services planning partnerships will rise from £32 million to £38 million in the 2025-26 and 2026-27 financial years.

Law Society of Scotland response on Regulation of Legal Services Bill
Nevertheless, we remain encouraged by the Minister’s latest approach to the Bill. As always, we are keen to find a way forward that allows for a proportionate and modern regulatory scheme while also respecting core constitutional principles around the rule of the law and the independence of the legal profession from the state.
