*S6M-02276 Meghan Gallacher: Coatbridge Primary Schools' New Early Years Facilities— That the Parliament welcomes the announcement that new early years facilities at Shawhead and Townhead primary schools in Coatbridge have opened; notes that this is to accommodate the expansion of the early years provision to 1,140 hours for all three- and four-year-olds; acknowledges that Shawhead Primary School has completed a new extension and plans to create a new forest in the large grassy area behind the school; notes that Townhead Primary School has undergone similar expansions so that it can accommodate the 1,140-hours provision; welcomes the announcement that both will have direct access to full and well-equipped outdoor play areas, which is crucial to learning and development; notes that North Lanarkshire has new family learning centres in Airdrie, Cumbernauld, Newmains and Wishaw, with a further three opening in the New Year; welcomes the news that St Augustine’s and Whitelees also have new nursery facilities being constructed, and welcomes reports that, throughout the expansion of nursery provision, 500 new jobs have been created locally.
