*S5M-12478 Angus MacDonald: NHS Forth Valley Receives UNICEF Baby Friendly Status That the Parliament congratulates NHS Forth Valley s community health visiting service — ’ on achieving UNICEF s Baby Friendly award; understands that the Baby Friendly initiative aims to ’ protect, promote and support breastfeeding and close, loving parent-infant relationships, and aims to raise the standards of care for all babies irrespective of how they are fed; recognises the health board s commitment to raising standards by collaborating with UNICEF to improve support and ’ care for all families regardless of who they are and where they are from; understands that, through this process, the number of women in Forth Valley who are breastfeeding six weeks after giving birth has increased by over 5%; welcomes the Scottish Government s commitment to ensuring ’ that children born in Scotland have the best start in life through initiatives such as the Baby Box scheme, the improvement of early learning and childcare through increasing the free entitlement from 600 to 1,140 hours by 2020 and by providing school meals for children in P1 to P3; further congratulates the community health visiting service on achieving Baby Friendly status, and looks forward to hearing of more success in this area and across the health board in the future.
