On forestry, in 2023 it absorbed "7.6 MtCO2e annually (or 9.2 MtCO2e if storage in harvested wood products is included) which is equivalent to 14% of Scotland’s gross emissions."iiDraft Climate Change Plan, Annex 2, pg 128 The draft Plan states that: "The uneven age profile of Scotland’s forests (a mixture of new planting with younger trees, older trees reaching their sequestration capacity and timber harvest removal) means the level of carbon removal by Scotland’s forests will fluctuate.

It has stated that, instead of increasing the available funds to fund an increase from £12.60, which is the real living wage for 2025-26, to £13.45, which is the real living wage for 2026-27, the Scottish Government seems to have chosen to fund only an increase from the new national living wage in 2026-27.
