*S6M-08808 Jackie Baillie: Dumbarton’s Scottish Maritime Museum Identified as One of the UK’s Most Significant Transport Heritage Sites—That the Parliament congratulates Dumbarton’s Scottish Maritime Museum on being recognised as one of the UK’s most significant sites of transport heritage by the National Transport Trust, as it is home to the Denny Ship Model Experiment Tank; understands that the presentation of the Red Wheel celebrates the world’s oldest working model experiment tank, which was constructed on the site of the William Denny Shipyard in 1882, on the grounds of which the museum is now located, with the purpose of testing model hulls; recognises what it sees as the significance of the National Trust’s Red Wheel Scheme in raising awareness of the most important sites of engineering and transport development; understands that the Wheel was unveiled by Mike Lunch, a trustee of the National Transport Council, Elliot Witherow, deputy lieutenant for Dunbartonshire, and David Mann, director of the Scottish Maritime Museum; further understands that this Red Wheel is the first in the UK that provides easy access to information for visitors, through the use of a QR code, and again congratulates the Scottish Maritime Museum on this achievement.
