Supported by: Bill Kidd*, Clare Adamson*, Kenneth Gibson*, Joan McAlpine* *S5M-00121 Sandra White: Glasgow 2016 Homelessness World Cup Legacy Project That — the Parliament congratulates Glasgow Life on its recent award of £343,383 from the Big Lottery Fund to help establish a lasting legacy from the July 2016 Homeless World Cup in Glasgow; believes that it will use the money to work in partnership with Glasgow City Council s social work ’ team and the Glasgow Homelessness Network to recruit and train 200 people to volunteer in a variety of roles, on and off the pitch; understands that up to half of the volunteers will be people who have been homeless at some point in their lives; hopes that this legacy project will help them gain new skills and confidence through a post-games programme of sports coaching and creative writing; understands that the initiative will also allow people who have experienced homelessness to share their stories and reconnect with their communities; notes that this will be accompanied by a national media campaign that will be aimed at challenging some of the myths and misconceptions about homelessness, and encourages anyone who is interested in more information on the 2016 Homeless World Cup to visit...
