There are worrying trends in domestic violence. The latest statistics show that there has been a 1 per cent rise in the number of incidents to nearly 59,900 in 2016-17.

The programme has scheduled seven visits over the three year period stipulated, in order to provide additional educational input and to visit clinical units to understand systems and issues at first hand.
Some of those are in Glasgow; I was happy to visit one of the beneficiaries in Castlemilk, which is investigating the creation of a new community centre that will be linked to Cathkin Braes, which was a Commonwealth games venue.
We calculated the numbers for the old approach and for our new way of categorising things, and we found that in 16 of the 32 councils the introduction of the new indicator—SIMD data—had no impact at all on councillor numbers; there would have been exactly the same number of councillors if we had used a new ratio but kept the old way of categorising things.
