We must recognise that the process is objector led in many cases, and we need to address how we validate the quality of objections and assess whether they are evidentially based. We visited the biodiversity directorate in Brussels, which was able to say easily, "Here is the small number of cases where the evidential basis for the objection is of such quality that we will listen, but we're also able to distinguish and screen out those cases where objections are not evidentially based."
