We engaged with key stakeholders in three localities to arrange visits with Members of the Committee and a series of round table conversations at each location to explore the themes to date of the inquiry.
As I said in my previous contribution to the committee, if people were stopped and asked about ferries every time they went out to buy a pint of milk—as I am—they might take a different perspective back to their board meetings.
Given those anomalies and the need for buy-in from the public, do you consider the new framework to be more transparent and straightforward than what came before it?

I thank the minister for advance sight of her statement and for the generous tone in which she delivered it. The statement described a “new beginning” for ScotRail, but the only thing that is new is that ScotRail is coming under new ownership.
When it comes to the duty in section 7 to “maintain and seek to enhance … the value of the assets”, if the income is zero at present, it is not too challenging to maintain it at that level.
