To do this we need a strong economy, underpinned by a vibrant labour market. We will today (26 August 2016) publish Scotland’s Labour Market Strategy, to sit alongside our Economic Strategy.
We are in unprecedented times, I suppose: in 25 years we have not amended that to make it do anything different. We are in new territory, but we are confident that it will work regardless.
The real lesson from the Michael Matheson scandal is that Humza Yousaf would prefer to burn what is left of his own credibility than to take action against one of his ministers. The new Cabinet is just the latest example of an SNP Government that is distracted by division and is pursuing the wrong priorities.
That could be because they cannot get in or have health issues and need a visiting officer. If somebody does not proceed to contact us, even if they have made the appointment, we will get on the phone to try to ensure that we do not lose anybody through the new process.
I welcome the cabinet secretary to her new role. There was new information in The Herald on Monday about the hydrocracker, but she did not mention that.
