You have talked about a £16 return for every £1 that is invested in core services. You touched on the removal of the £20 a week increase in universal credit that was brought in during the pandemic.
It is utterly unbelievable that it has been out of action since February this year. It was due back in service to take over from its replacement, the MV Isle of Arran, which is now off for its annual service.
They are absolutely key drivers in bringing visitors—particularly international visitors—to the country, so the importance of the environment cannot be overstated.
In fact, probably most members of the Scottish Parliament have suggested possible sites. I reassure you that we have not looked at one site and one site alone; we have looked at a number of sites on a continuous basis.
Just last Friday, my colleague Jamie Halcro Johnston met campaigners in Portree, before those events happened, because local people and visitors were worried about the situation.
In August 2018, officials from the Department of Health and Social Care in England contacted the Scottish Government, raising concerns about the amount of clinical waste collected from NHS England sites and being stored at Healthcare Environmental Servicessites in England.
