Instead of wasting billions on bombs, the UK Government should be abolishing its austerity agenda and investing for the future. That means ditching its tax credit cuts, which will see families losing an average of £1,300 a year.

It is feasible both legally and practically to use the powers to top up, for example, child benefit, child tax credit and the child element of universal credit, which is the equivalent of child tax credit.
