You will also recall that, during its consideration of related statutory instruments towards the end of 2024, the Rural Affairs and Islands Committee had a number of questions about how these individual instruments sat within the wider context of a new system of agricultural support.
We would welcome discussion about how we may further evolve to meet some of the calls for new public bodies in Scotland, for example, by developing our mandate to allow stronger enabling powers and an increased number of Members of the Commission.

National Performance Framework: Proposed National Outcomes
At its meeting on 10 September 2024, the Committee took oral evidence on the proposed National Outcomes released by the Scottish Government as part of its latest review of the National Performance Framework in May 2024.
My region of the Highlands and islands is host to the many and varied forms that the wider fishing sector takes here in Scotland. I was pleased to see that the new Scotland minister John Lamont’s recent visit to Shetland involved engaging with local fishing interests.
