Through correspondence with the Scottish Government, the Committee has identified a drafting error in the Regulations, which the Scottish Government has acknowledged (See Annex A).
As the National Energy System Operator (NESO) recognised in its 2025 Future Energy Scenarios, up to a fifth of future data centre demand in Great Britain could be based in Scotland.

When we sought clarity on the future sustainability of social care services, we heard from the Scottish Government that further work is required to understand the nature of the demand, and how that demand can be met with a view to ensuring a preventative approach is incorporated in the future.
