The Committee notes that in the update you have provided information in relation to the development of the new prisoner transport contract. Your update confirms that a retendering process is now underway and that the contract will be a strategic partnership with a service provider and that the retender will introduce a new commercial model.
No concerns have been raised about sections 21 or 25, which seek to simplify the governance of the crofting register and the register of crofts. That is good news. Section 26 seeks to expand the powers on the correction of errors to allow the keeper to fix clerical mistakes at any time.
There are opportunities to do that through the upcoming changes to agricultural support. In my visit to Perthshire next week, we will be talking about mitigation plans and about what is available for farmers.
