The £150 will be a great help to many households, but does the cabinet secretary agree that it would be more helpful to low-income households if the UK Government restored the universal credit increase and cancelled its national insurance contribution increase?
I have already referred to two appropriate things that the UK Government can do: it can not go ahead with the cut to universal credit and it can consider additional financial support for low-income households to give then specific help with energy cost rises.
If the money came directly from health board budgets, there would be less to spend on the delivery of health services for either the response to the pandemic or essential care services.
