Census (Amendment) (Scotland) Bill - The Census Act 1920
If a person refuses to answer a census question, or gives a false answer, they are liable to a fine not exceeding £1,000 (s.8). Currently, the only exception to this is the voluntary question on religion which was added by the Census (Amendment) (Scotland) Act 2000.
