We passed the Public Appointments and Public Bodies etc (Scotland) Act 2003 and, as of June this year, we have a new commissioner. Our record is first class and we are ahead of many parts of the world.In Mr Neil's portrayal of the number of people on public bodies in Scotland who have declared a political affinity, there is again distortion.

In response to the report of the expert panel on school meals, "Hungry for Success: A Whole School Approach to School Meals in Scotland", the Executive has provided £57 million over three years to allow local authorities to develop healthy meals. We have also published new nutrient standards for school meals and detailed mechanisms for monitoring them.

At our meeting on 28 April, the committee agreed to ask the Justice 2 Committee to clarify whether its previous inquiry into the matter addressed the question of why the situation in Scotland differs from that in England and Wales, where new judges are required to declare masonic membership.
