Our report contends that the 20-metre rule was the reason for many members of our community losing out on this support under Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and that since its introduction as part of PIP, the rule has acted as a barrier to people living with MS getting the support they need. The latest figures from the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) show that from across the UK of 1455 people living with MS who submitted a new claim for PIP between August and October 2022, only 52% of them received an award.
