Progress towards eliminating hepatitis C (HCV) in Scotland is monitored by Public Health Scotland (PHS). PHS’s latest HCV surveillance report, published in January 2025, described progress as “hugely encouraging”.
The latest publication is available on the SFC’s website: College Performance Indicators 2022-23 - Scottish Funding Council (sfc.ac.uk) This data supports Scottish Government and SFC’s work with colleges and universities to measure and improve performance across the sectors.

The survey indicated that user behaviour ranges from occasional visits to active and frequent use, with over 50% of respondents reporting one-time or 2 to 3-time visits in the past 6 months.
There is no room around the existing hospital to build a new hospital, so to build a new hospital on that site would require demolition of the current hospital.
