This committee is still in its infancy, and a lot of the heavy lifting from some of the members who have stayed on it right through the session has been remarkable, as has been the cross-party non-tribal approach to establishing Scotland’s new social security system. I am sure that that will also be the case in the new parliamentary session; it is absolutely vital that it continues.

It has been our experience that if GPs in an area have not engaged with a service, it puts pressure back on the third sector provider to change and adapt because of the lack of buy in.
In its written submission, the NALW reported a lack of understanding of the role and role boundary of link workers as a continuing barrier to wider uptake of social prescribing, concluding: "Everyone in the GP practice should buy into the vision of social prescribing and understand it".

The number of women-led employer businesses in Scotland has declined from 20.6 per cent in 2017 to just 14 per cent in 2019. That is the latest data. The statistic of 14 per cent of women-led businesses is, however, at odds with data that suggests that 51 per cent of new start-ups are led by women.
