This policy will not apply to passengers who can only purchase a ticket from a ticket office or from on train staff, for example, customers who hold a national entitlement card or those who cannot buy before boarding due to a disability or other accessibility needs will not be charged a minimum fare and will be able to buy on board as before – ScotRail staff have existing experience in applying this rule under the current Buy Before you Board policy.
