Supported by: Bill Kidd*, Stuart McMillan*, Richard Lyle*, Ruth Maguire*, Gil Paterson* *S5M-19165 Lewis Macdonald: Aberdeen FC Wins UEFA Grassroots Award—That the Parliament congratulates Aberdeen FC on being named the Best Professional Football Club in the 2019 UEFA Grassroots Awards; recognises that the UEFA Grassroots Awards, which have been run annually since 2010, reward excellence in the promotion of grassroots work within local communities and are contested by national associations and clubs from across the whole of Europe; notes that this award has been given as a recognition of the engagement that Aberdeen FC Community Trust has had with over 20,000 people in the north east of Scotland with the aim of addressing three main themes, football for life, education and healthy communities, by working actively with six local grassroots clubs and 13 partner schools to promote football-related health and wellbeing activities for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds; appreciates the invaluable role that Aberdeen FC plays in local communities across the region, and wishes the club many more years of success in using football to bring healthier life choices and community spirit to the people of Aberdeen and the north east.
