To ask the Scottish Executive how many patients, having attended Monklands Hospital Accident and Emergency Department, were transferred by ambulance to (a) Wishaw General or (b) Hairmyres Hospital in each of the last three years.
The member is correct in saying that Lochgelly medical centre was not included in the infrastructure investment plan from 2021-22 to 2025-26, which identified the priority health capital projects for funding in that period.
That includes an increase for the Scottish Ambulance Service of more than £88 million, taking its baseline funding to £437.2 million for 2025-26. That will help the service to continue to develop, enhance capacity and deliver high-quality patient care across Scotland.
The Convention of Scottish Local Authorities has welcomed that funding in the budget, which has not always been the case in other years. It is welcome that the 2025-26 budget provides local government in Scotland with a £1 billion uplift and record funding.
