I will continue to work with our workforce planning partners to that end, but I recognise Martin Whitfield’s point about forward planning to meet the needs of the sector and our teachers.
We will take that. I guess that my point is that the audience numbers were the best that we had had since before Covid; we had a real sense of audiences returning to us.
On the point about asking local authorities for information, I make the point again that the IJB has the statutory responsibility for delivering the services.
However, I do not think that that is relevant to the point that I am making, which is that rehabilitation is best served by the provision of work and education in prisons.
We would most certainly be prepared to act as the generating point or the coalescing point—the driving force, if you like—if other organisations and agencies were comfortable with that.
