This inquiry concluded in advance of the 2024 UK General Election and change in UK Government. The position of the new UK Government is not yet clear in relation to all of the issues this report covers.
These provisions seek to ensure that care home residents would be able to receive visits or make visits to loved ones.
Ministers would be required to issue so called 'Visiting Directions', following consultation with Public Health Scotland, to care home providers about visits to or by care home residents.
Unions are still meeting to discuss the latest pay deal. I will let them have those discussions and my door will be open to try to prevent industrial action from taking place.
My region of the Highlands and islands is host to the many and varied forms that the wider fishing sector takes here in Scotland. I was pleased to see that the new Scotland minister John Lamont’s recent visit to Shetland involved engaging with local fishing interests.
