Built Environment Forum Scotland (BEFS) reflected that “there is a trope that nobody will pay to fix the roof but that, if you tell them what is happening underneath it, you might get some money for the activity”, and that funding mechanisms can “inhibit” such cultural activity “if they are focused too narrowly”.15Scottish Parliament. Committee consideration
The Scottish Government addresses this new power at paragraphs 25 and 26 of the supplementary DPM, stating:
Allowing Scottish Ministers to modify the definition of ‘support services’ would allow the flexibility to add additional supports that may be identified at a later date.
In response to questions from SCoSS, officials clarified that the phased rollout has been developed by “working closely with the Department for Work and Pensions, to ensure a safe and secure delivery that maintains these links with wider benefits and services so that carers can continue to get all of the support they are entitled to.”
When I left home at roughly the age of 21, there were costs, time and effort involved in setting up a new home. I did not know how long it would take me to get sorted out and settle down but, looking back, I have no regrets that I did that.
I would be grateful if we could get an update, perhaps from the minister when she closes, regarding the new Crown Agent’s position on the Scottish Government’s proposal.
