The Chief Medical Officer wrote to those people considered most at risk from COVID-19 on 26 March. The letter provided information and support on shielding themselves from Covid-19 and how they could access the care and treatment they might need.
That is probably the best way forward because—we would hope—there should be some movement in terms of the various reviews and considerations that are going on.
In our experience, the contract is often awarded to the organisation that writes the best tender and not necessarily the organisation that provides the best service.

There is a bit of a way to go, but there is no way that the UK Government was delivering anything close to that down there. That point needs to be put on the record— Deputy convener, I hesitate to interrupt further chat on that point, but do you have questions for the witnesses on further points?
It would be useful to examine what those people did, the point at which they did it and how they talked to each other—if, indeed, they talked to each other.
