Local authorities described a range of activities including: holding public roadshows to carry out microchipping and help make dog owners aware of their responsibilities; school visits to educate children on how to behave around dogs and what to do if a dog approaches; and working alongside animal charities to try to reach as many dog owners are possible.
The Committee also spoke informally to representatives of Police Scotland on the potential impact of Brexit on policing during our visit to the National Crime Campus at Gartcosh in March 2019.

The SRC was concerned, the CoSLA guidance, ‘Establishing Migrants’ Access to Benefits and Local Authority Services’ which covers human rights assessments, focused on what no support would mean in terms of a human rights breach in the UK, and not the risks that may be faced if a person returned to their country of origin.1Scottish Refugee Council.
