Trends in devolved social security spend
Projecting forwards, the latest forecast social security spend in the MTFS shows an increase of 30% (£6,772m to £8,825m) between 2025-26 and 2029-30, and a gap between the forecast BGA and expected spend of £1,823m.
In April 2025, the Scottish Government announced that they would be revising the Bill proposals to remove regulations to upgrade heating in properties at the point of sale. Instead the Bill will establish targets for decarbonising heating systems for Government to reach.
