Tricia Marwick has rather shot my fox, if she will pardon the expression, in the debate.As other members have said, the only provisions of the bill that are relevant to Scotland are those that would create the new community interest companies. There is a possibility that charities in Scotland may want to convert to CICs.

That was addressed in the select committee evidence that was taken in Whitehall—assurances were given that training is available to officers. It is not a new aspect of their service. Service personnel are already subject to Scots law while they are resident in Scotland and the force is already delivering the training requirement.

Although I appreciate that no one wants a situation in which primary legislation is needed to give these particular powers to any new authority that might be created, these powers are fairly draconian and I would welcome some balance.
