Members queried whether “a more fundamental economic modelling to look at where the investment in housing stock comes from and to what extent buy-to-let results in direct investment” was needed.
Before the 2017 Order came in, however, the additional amount was chargeable if spouses, civil partners or co-habitants were jointly buying a home to replace a home that was owned by only one of them.
