The shooting of birds or animals is not recognised by the Sports Councils in the UK as a sport.The shooting of wild animals or birds will be outside the scope of the new Animal Welfare Legislation which we hope to introduce to Parliament in September.

The preparation and development of all new food hygiene legislation, for which the Food Standards Agency is the lead department, is accompanied by a Regulatory Impact Assessment in accordance with Scottish Executive guidelines.
The text for the integrated administrationand control system covering the new CAP schemes has just been agreed by the EC andwill be published in the Official Journal of the European Union shortly.

The Executive expects tohave close working relationships with OFCOM and its Scottish representatives.We are currently discussing the means by which we will establish ournon-statutory relationship with the new regulator. In the meantime, OFCOM iskeeping the Executive informed of its own plans and progress.
