In its Stage 1 report, a majority of members of the Committee expressed support for the Bill, noting the benefits it could bring to visitors, the tourism sector and local residents.
In each tracker report we have published, we have expressed disappointment at the lack of urgency from the Scottish Government in taking action on this issue.
However, in this case there is no control of the use of any parking site for a period of 28 days. Each site is open all year and so the Government or indeed the Highland Council cannot prove “de minimus” use.

Several felt that having up to 32 different visitor levy schemes could create duplication of effort along with confusion for visitors and for accommodation providers alike.
