To ask the Scottish Executive what steps it has taken to ensure that the new coastguard arrangements recently announced by Her Majesty's Government will not detrimentally affect Scottish fishermen.
I will take the lead in ensuring that matters affecting young people are properly co-ordinated, taking careful account of the wide range of issues and bodies involved. A new Children and Young People Group will be created in my Department to support me in that work.
After the eight weeks, there would then be the period of appeal. The new measures would shorten the overall period because the first period would be removed.
