The idea is that a teacher gets their initial teacher training qualification but may also have to undertake 35 hours of CPD, which would show whether someone had developed the appropriate professional skills and knowledge to take up another post.

The Tories say that we centralise everything and complain that we have absolute control. The member says that we should get back into local areas to centralise control and prevent things from happening.In fairness to the member, I should say that I have received interesting correspondence on the matter.

In the past few years, we have successfully pointed out to the Commission that its concerns on that matter were overstated, and I think that we managed last year to get a nephrops quota for the east coast of Scotland that more properly reflected the scientific view and also allowed fishermen to prosecute that fishery.
