Jackie Baillie: To ask the Scottish Government what checks have been undertaken on residential tower blocks and new public buildings, including schools, in light of the recent tragic event at Grenfell Tower.
The overall increase of £13.9 million, or 10.2 per cent, above the 2025-26 budget is primarily driven by the addition of direct, one-off election costs of £8.5 million.
Indeed, 82 per cent of the capital projects were not new-build projects, and clearly part of our net zero approach is to use existing buildings instead of new build.
Paragraph 4 of annex A on page 3, which starts with the words “While no new SOPOs or RoSHOs can be imposed”, ends with the words “the latest possible date for them to cease to have effect being 31 March 2028.”
