I wish that the Scottish National Party would join us in welcoming all those new teachers to the classroom and welcoming the big difference that they will make to Scottish education.
The changes that we propose will ensure that eligibility is kept up to date and that no one falls out of the legal aid net because of the effects of inflation.The second issue is legal aid in relation to the new asylum and immigration tribunal and obstructive witnesses.
I intend to raise those matters with the new chair of the SQA and I intend that the SQA should consider those issues as part of the action plan that I have asked it to publish.
Any increased costs associated with the new junior doctors' contract reflect not just the numbers of junior doctors exceeding New Deal hours limits but also payments made in recognition of work intensity.
A press conference was held and the proposal received extensive coverage in the Daily Record, the News of the World, the Edinburgh Evening News and on the BBC—it received coverage throughout the country.
