The idea that schools should ask whether they should teach one thing or another is absolute nonsense.I will not say what I think of some of the stuff that is in here, but I am concerned that Brian Monteith thinks that he can write a curriculum for Scotland and get it right. We are right to stick to our guns and vote against the amendment.

There is now a situation that the Scottish National Party consistently opposes—the building of 200, rising to 300, new schools in Scotland. The SNP would veto the public-private partnerships that we are helping to finance, which are giving rise to more than £2 billion-worth of investment in new schools in Scotland.
