A comprehensive review of the implications associated with implementing a phased screening programme has been commissioned from the National Co-ordinator of the Scottish Screening Programmes and the Medical Director of the National Services Division. I await the findings of the review, which should be available by March 2001.
The Scottish Executive provides £5 million to local authorities for in-service special educational needs staff development and training, including teachers of autistic children.
These include health education and promotion activity; improvement on enforcement measures relating to underage sales; a Voluntary Charter on Smoking in Public Places; allocation of funding to health boards to spend on smoking cessation services and nicotine replacement therapy, and legislation to ban tobacco advertising and sponsorship.
